Little Quilt Swap

This swap was taken for the book Little Quilts by Sarah Feilke and Amy Lobsiger.  In this swap, you had to make a quilt from the book for your swap partner.  My partner was fond of the bee quilt so that is the one I made for her.

Everything about this quilt was a first for me. I have never made hexagons or have done English paper piecing.  the hand sewing was new to me along with embroidery for the bee.  By the time I managed all of that newness I was not up to hand quilting, so I cheated and machined quilted it.

I love how it turned out even though it was out of my comfort zone.

Upon finishing this quilt it was shipped to my partner in Missouri.

Hazel Hedgehog Quilt Along

If you are looking for a fun Quilt Along to participate in, go to The Hazel Hedgehog QAL being hosted by Gnome Angel

This cute pattern by Elizabeth Hartman can be found at her shop.  I have several of her patterns and have loved everyone that I have made.

This past weekend I made a Hazel mini quilt just for myself.

I have fallen in love with text print fabrics which I used in the background.  I used Kona Cotton and Kaffe Fassett fabrics for the hedgehogs.

I love everything about this quilt and it is now hanging on my wall in my sewing room.

Instagram Mini Quilt Swaps

I have participated in several quilt swaps and would like to share these with you.

For the Instagram Mini Quilt Swap I made the Supernova Quilt by Jacquie Gering from the Modern Quilting book.

The pattern made a 66" x 78" quilt using 6.5" unfinished blocks.  In order to make this a mini quilt, I made 2.5" unfinished blocks.  The finished quilt measured 22" x 26".

I used circular quilting and randomly placed small beads throughout  the quilt.

I was excited with the quilt and it was shipped to New Zealand to my swap partner, who was just as pleased with the quilt.

A New Year

The new year has arrived and I am going to work at posting on a regular basis this year, but we will see how that goes.

I have recently started working on English Paper Piecing and think I am addicted.  I started the year with The New Hexagon Millefiori Quilt Along hosted by Katja's Quilt Shop.  Click here for more information regarding the quilt along.

This is the progress that I have made and of coarse I sewed one block upside down so I will have to redo that one.

My hand sewing is slow but I am really enjoying working on it in the evenings while watching television, that could explain the upside down block.

This quilt along will be for the entire year and hopefully I will finish the 78" x 78" quilt.

I will continue to post my progress on this quilt.

I hope you have a wonderful year of quilting.
