Nautical Quilt

As you now, I auditioned for Sewvivor and did not make the top 16.  I have decided to participate in the sewalong for each of the challenges.

The first challenge is a nautical theme. When I think of nautical, I think clean, crisp, and simple.  I have never seen myself as nautical, but this has to be one of my favorite quilts.

I got my inspiration from two of my favorite blogs.   I love the nautical quilt by Red Pepper Quilts and knew if I ever made a nautical quilt I wanted to use Kona Modern Quilts collection.  I combined these fabrics and used the scrappy triangles tutorial from Film in the Fridge.

I love how it pops against the Carolina blue sky.

I used a red and white striped fabric for the binding.

Along with the Kona Modern Quilt fabrics, I added some Kona solids and a yellow chevron print.

The quilting is awesome, if I do say so.

Last is my beautiful granddaughter, Selena, modeling for me.

I can't wait to see what the top 16 come up with.  Keep following along, the next challenge is a quilt as you go bag.

  1. Hi, Cheri. I love your nautical quilt - do you have a pattern that you can sell or share? I'm not quite as clever as you are an need a pattern to follow. Thanks for your reply.
